Dear Valued Pet Parents, as the number of cases of COVID-19 continues to rise all around the world and in our own community, we are obligated to help mitigate the spread of the virus. We are adjusting our protocols as needed to keep up with the latest information and recommendations.

At this time, we have made the decision to temporarily suspend all house call services until further notice and will be working within the guidelines of the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), and County Public Health Departments to reduce exposure.

We will continue to provide acupuncture and integrative services at the San Mateo office (257 N Amphlett BLV) on Mondays and Wednesdays 9am-4pm by appointment only and may add additional days/times if deemed necessary.

Per the recommendations and guidelines of the California and American Veterinary Medical Associations, and in order to minimize unnecessary exposure and preserve limited supplies of personal protective equipment and sanitizers, we will be limiting our practice to the treatment of urgent cases only. These include but are not limited to patients who are acutely ill or injured and require treatment to reduce suffering or prevent further deterioration of their condition. Examples of appointments that will be postponed include regular checkups and preventative care.

Until further notice, we are abiding by strict social distancing measures. This means that we are not currently allowing clients into the treatment room. We ask that you please bring your phone to your appointment and that you park in one of the reserved parking spaces by the entrance to the clinic. Once arrived, please call us from your vehicle and we will come out to collect your pet and bring them into the clinic. All communication, including provision of estimates and collection of payment, will be handled over the phone or via email. This also means that we will not be accepting cash payments for the time being. We accept Paypal and Venmo.

When our staff arrive to pick up your pet, we kindly ask that you wait for them outside of your vehicle. Prior to your arrival, please clean your pet’s carrier, collar, and leash thoroughly using an alcohol-based product.

Please be prepared with cats in their carriers and with dogs wearing their leashes. We are requiring our staff to not reach into your vehicles, nor to take your pets directly from your arms. If you have been diagnosed with COVID-19, are experiencing a fever, or are exhibiting symptoms of respiratory illness, we kindly ask that you have someone else drive your pet to their appointment as well as notify us ahead of time so that we can take appropriate precautions to ensure our own safety. At our clinic, we are using protective gear and have implemented cleaning and sanitizing procedures following CDC recommendations, including disinfecting all surfaces and equipment more frequently.

While there is currently no evidence that pets become ill from COVID-19 nor that they transmit it to other animals, including humans, we may take extra precautions with your pet if there is a family member displaying symptoms. Please let us know prior to your appointment if anyone in your immediate family is experiencing symptoms so we can take the proper precautions.

We want to be available to help you and your pets now and in the future. Please help us to protect ourselves, our families, and our pet parents who are at increased risk of severe complications. We need to work together to protect everyone. As this is a rapidly evolving situation, we may make additional changes to our protocols and procedures. We will keep updated information on our website. You can also feel free to reach out to us with any questions or concerns you may have.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
